We scale back a little over August. with the holiday season; Tuesday & Thursday Vespers take a break for the month.Wednesday Matins & Low Mass continue at 9.30/10am.

Sunday 25 August, Trinity X, 11am. Sung Mass. Hymns: Hymns: 466: 294: 64.Setting: Missa de Angelis.

Sunday 1 September, , Trinity XI/St Giles, 11am. Choral Mass. Hymns: 333: 294: 186. Setting: Mass in F, Sir William Harris. Motet: Thou knowest, Lord, Henry Purcell.

6pm Choral Evensong and Benediction. Responses: Reading Ps: 119v 81-96 Hymn: 252.Canticles: Herbert Brewer in D. Anthem: Cantique de Jean Racine, Gabriel Faure. O salutaris, Tantun ergo – plainsong.

Choir will meet at 10am on Sundays, to run through Music for the Liturgy and polish up a Communion Motet from our repertoire. Mass Setting will be Merbecke/Shaw so we can ‘all join in’.  Full Choral Services resume Sunday 1st September with our monthly Choral Evensong at 6pm as well as Sung Mass at 11am.

Tuesday 7pm Choir Practices will only happen 13th Aug for those who van  sing at Mary Tavy on Thursday 15th August, and 27th Aug ready for Sun 1st September with Sung Mass and Chiral Evensong that day.

Thurs 15th August, 7.30pm at Mary Tavy near Tavistock, Sung Mass for Feast of the Assumption. Byrd 4-part Mass and Arcadelt Ave Maria. Fr Stephen Martin, Canon Chris Palmer.

Sunday 18 August, Trinity IX, 11am. Sung Mass. Hymns: 468: 484: 431. Setting: Merbecke/Shaw. Motet of the Day: Thou knowest Lord, Purcell.  Fr Dominic Cyrus.

John Merbecke’s The Booke of Common Praier Noted was commissioned by Archbishop Thomas Cranmer and published in 1550, but the huge liturgical changes under Edward VI & Mary I meant the music fell from use until revived in the mid-19th century. Motet…
