St Michael’s Lectures in May

Hosted by: St Michael's Lectures

We have two St Michael’s Lectures this May with LGBT+ themes in association with Exeter Pride. There is a Poster below which you may wish to download & share.

Wednesday 23rd May at 7.30pm, we welcome Nicola Field, founding member of “Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners”, as featured in the 2014 blockbuster film  “Pride”, speaking on its lessons for the 21st century and including a screening of a contemporaneous 1980s Channel 4 documentary on their movement, ‘All Out: Dancing in Dulais’.

Wednesday 9th May at 7.30pm, we had a screening of Florence Browne‘s excellent documentary about LGBT people in the Church of England, “Just as I am”, with an introductory talk by Dr David Beadle, who is one of the people interviewed in this film.

Everyone, of any faith or none, is warmly welcomed to the St Michael’s Lectures and admission is FREE (with a voluntary retiring collection).

Lectures are followed by discussion and light refreshments, and are held in St. Michael’s Church.  For further information, or to discuss disabled access, contact the Lectures’ team at dnbeadle@gmail.com

A reminder that St Michael’s Church also hosts a Sung Matins & Blessing for Exeter Pride at 9.30am on Sat 12th May – all welcome.

Next month’s lecture is on Weds 27th June: Terry Beverton, “Psychotherapy: A Practitioner’s Esoteric Journey”.
