The Russian Kontakion for the Departed
Gabriel Fauré composed his Requiem in D minor, Op. 48, between 1887 and 1890.
The choral-orchestral setting of the Catholic Mass for the Dead is the best known of his large works.
The Choir will rehearse from 4.30pm.
Additional singers who wish to join us are welcome and are encouraged to attend the previous one or two Tuesday evening 7pm choir practices.
Justorum animae in manu Dei sunt, et non tanget illos tormentum mortis.
Visi sunt oculis insipientium mori, illi autem sunt in pace.
The souls of the just are in the hand of God, and the torment of death does not touch them.
In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die; but they are in peace.
