The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven is celebrated each year on 15th August.
This year this major Feast Day falls on a Sunday and will be celebrated with Mass at 11:00am, with Fr Robin Eastoe, former Vicar of Heavitree Parish.
The word “assumption” comes from the Middle English “assumpcioun” which means “a taking up into heaven”, and from Latin “assumptio” which means “a taking”.
Please note, Covid-19 precautions remain in line with current Church & Government guidelines, with Communion (wafer only) brought to the pews.
Below are historical notes about how the community and choir of St Michael’s has celebrated this Feast Day in recent years. The Pewsheet (currently for last year) is linked from the green ribbon below.
