CBS Mass – St Matthias

Hosted by: St Michael & All Angels

Tuesday 24th February at 6pm – in place of Vespers, Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament, Mass for St Matthias’ Day sung with Plainsong Propers and Hymns. All Welcome.

This will be the first Mass celebrated for over a year in the St Clement Chapel, as it was used for storage of the Music Library and much else during the Organ build.

It is a great joy to see the chapel restored for use and it would be wonderful if there were a sizeable number there on Tuesday evening to celebrate this event.

The Mass will conclude by 6:45pm, enabling choir practice to begin at the usual time of 7pm.

INTROIT. Mihi autem nimis. Ps. 139
RIGHT dear are thy friends unto me, O God, and held in highest honour: their rule and governance is exceeding stedfast. Ps. ibid. Lord thou hast searched me and known me: thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising. V. Glory be.

O ALMIGHTY GOD, who into the place of the traitor Judas didst choose thy faithful servant Matthias to be of the number of the twelve Apostles: grant that thy Church, being always preserved from false Apostles, may be ordered and guided by faithful and true pastors.

GRADUAL.  Ps. 139. Right dear are thy friends, O God, and held in highest honour: their rule and governance is exceeding steadfast. V. If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand of the sea.

TRACT. Ps. 21. Thou has given him his heart’s desire: and hast not denied him the request of his lips. V. For thou shalt prevent him with the blessings of goodness. V. And shalt set a crown of pure gold upon his head.

OFFERTORY. Ps. 45. Thou shalt make them princes in all lands: they shall remember thy Name, O Lord, from one generation to another.

COMMUNION. St Matt. 19.28. Ye which have followed me shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

GRANT, we beseech thee, Almighty God: that by the power of this holy Sacrament which we have here received, we may, at the intercession of thy holy Apostle Matthias, obtain of thy mercy pardon and peace.
