Michaelmas is always an exciting cause for celebration in the life of St Michael’s. This year is the 150th anniversary of the church and all are very warmly invited to join us in a festive series of special services and wonderful events.
• Michaelmas High Mass, Saturday 29th September
This magnificent celebratory service will begin with a gathering at our neighbouring St David’s Church Exeter, from 4.00pm with prayers, followed by a procession down St David’s Hill at 4.30pm to St Michael’s Church.
Here at St Michael’s, Solemn Sung Mass will be celebrated at 5pm, followed by a sumptuous buffet feast at about 6.30pm. Music to include many glorious hymns, Locus Iste by Anton Bruckner, Mass Setting & Motet by Charles Villiers Stanford. All are welcome to all or part of this great day!
Buffet – please download the Invitation Letter below and return the reply slip with payment to Paula Lewis as indicated.
Parking – please use city centre car parks (Mary Arches, Guildhall, Bystock Terrace) as spaces at St Michael’s will be reserved for those who really need it.
Clergy and Choristers – please vest for a Solemn High Mass with Procession. Bring your friends and their friends. This is an occasion not to miss!
• On Sunday 30th September we shall have a further Sung Mass and more fun at 11am with the Venerable David Gunn-Johnson as our Guest Preacher
So why not book the weekend off and relish the glories of Anglo-Catholic liturgy in this very special Church? Music to include a new Motet “O Glorious Prince St Michael” by Graham Keitch, a member of St Michael’s choir.
Please see our 150th Anniversary Open Days for more events.
