Wedding of Erika and Stephen

Hosted by: St Michael's Church and Choir

Saturday 17th June at 12 noon, as Erika and Stephen celebrate their Marriage, St Michael’s Church welcomes all their families and friends as they share with us in the joy of this occasion. Erika & Stephen invite everyone to stay at the end of the service for cupcakes and conversation.

Erika Borley is Director of Music at St Michael’s and Stephen Wagstaff is Conductor of Camelford Town Band. We hope you will join in lustily with the singing and make a joyful noise in the music – the tunes Cwm Rhondda and Blaenwern have been arranged by Neil Page for choir, brass band & organ.

The much-loved hymn “Calon Lân yn llawn daioni” will be sung in Welsh – the refrain translates as:-

A pure heart so true and tender, Fairer than the lilies white, The pure heart alone can render Songs of Joy both day and night.

Camelford Town Band will play the Hilgay Silver Band March and Calling Cornwall, both by Goff Richards.

The choir will also sing two of Erika’s favourite a cappella Motets. The 8-part Jubilate Deo by Giovanni Gabrieli, a compilation of verses from Psalms 100, 128, Tobit 7, Psalms 20, 134.

Jubilate Deo omnis terra.  Servite Domino in laetitia.

O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands, for thus shall the man be blessed that fears the Lord.  May the God of Israel unite you and himself be with you.  May he send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Sion.  The Lord that made heaven and earth bless you out of Sion.  O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands,  Serve the Lord with gladness.

And Orlando Gibbon’s “O Clap your hands together all ye people”.

O clap your hands together, all ye people: O sing unto God with the voice of melody.
For the Lord is high, and to be feared: he is the great King upon all the earth.
He shall subdue the people under us: and the nations under our feet.
He shall choose out an heritage for us: e’en the worship of Jacob, whom he loved.

God is gone up with a merry noise: and the Lord with the sound of the trumpet.
O sing praises, sing praises unto our God: O sing praises, sing praises unto our King.
For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon his holy seat.
For God, which is highly exalted, doth defend the earth, as it were with a shield.
