Wednesday 30th November at 7.30pm, St Michael’s Lectures are delighted to welcome leading theological ethicist Professor David Clough from the University of Chester, to talk on the topic “The Ethics of Eating Animals.” Please note that there has been a change in speaker and slight change in title, as the speaker originally scheduled was unable to make it.
David Clough is Professor of Theological Ethics at the University of Chester and Founder and Joint Co-Ordinator of the CreatureKind Project, which engages churches with farmed animal welfare as a faith issue. After completing doctoral studies in the US, I moved to Durham as FD Maurice Postdoctoral Fellow in Christian Ethics at St Chad’s College, Durham, and then taught systematic theology and ethics at St. John’s College. He is currently President of the Society for the Study of Christian Ethics, Convenor of the Theological Ethics Seminar at the Society for the Study of Theology, Co-Chair of the Animals and Religion Group at the American Academy of Religion, and Visiting Professor at the Centre for Animal Welfare at the University of Winchester.
Everyone is warmly welcomed to the St Michael’s Lectures and admission is FREE (with a voluntary retiring collection). They are followed by discussion and light refreshments, and are held in St Michael’s Church.
