On Maundy Thursday, 9th April, in our Sung Mass we would especially remember Jesus and his Disciples in the Upper Room, the Foot-washing, how the Last Supper became the First Holy Communion, the words of Jesus to his followers, and the Betrayal.

Our beautiful and moving Liturgy this evening is preceded by Plainsong Vespers at 6pm and Choir Practice at 6.30pm. ALSO CANCELLED

At the end of the service, the High Altar is stripped, the Blessed Sacrament carried to the Altar of Repose in the Lady Chapel, and the Watch is kept there through the night recalling Christ and his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane and then before Pontius Pilate. In 2019, Mass in A minor, by Casciolini.Motets: Ubi caritas et amor, Duruflé. Ave verum corpus, Byrd.
In 2018 we sang Motets: Ave Verum Corpus, by Elgar & Ach Herr, lass dein lieb Engelein, Bach.

In 2017 the Setting was Martin Shaw’s Anglican Folk Mass, and the Anthems “Ubi caritas” & “Tantum ergo” by Maurice Duruflé. “Where charity and love are, God is there” “Therefore we before Thee bending, this great sacrament revere”.

In 2016 the Mass Setting was Wood in F with Anthems “Ubi Caritas” by Paul Mealor and “God so loved the world” from Stainer’s The Crucifixion.

In 2015 the Mass Setting was Missa Brevis by Lotti.
