Here’s a summary of our Sunday Services for October 2017. We continue to provide fine music for the liturgy as best we can.

Sun 29 Oct, Trinity XX, All Saints’ Sunday, 10.45am. N.B. BST ends, clocks go back. Sung Mass. With Fr Christopher Durrant. This will be kept as All Saints’ Sunday – rather than next week. Hymns: 197 : 231 : 227(T184). Setting: Missa O Quam Gloriosum – Victoria. Motet: O Quam Gloriosum – Victoria.

O how glorious is the kingdom in which all the saints rejoice with Christ, clad in white robes they follow the Lamb wherever he goes.

Choir Practice is at 7pm on Tuesdays – we would be very pleased to welcome new singers.

Tuesday & Thursday at 6pm there is Sung Vespers & Meditation. Matins & Low Mass are said at 9.30/10am on Wednesdays, and Communion is also celebrated at St David’s Church at 10.30am on Thursdays. All are welcome to services and events at St Michael’s.

Sunday 1 October, Trinity XVI, Feast of Dedication, 10.45am Sung Mass. Curate Fr Christopher Durrant as our Celebrant & Preacher. Also featuring the Bountiful Table this morning – please continue to support our successful Bring&Buy produce stall. Music – Hymns 205 : 302 : 206. Setting: Mass for Five Voices – Byrd. Motet: Locus Iste – Bruckner. This place is made by God, a priceless mystery, without reproof.

Sun 1 Oct, 6pm, Evensong and Benediction. Led by Fr Christopher and Rev Alison. We welcome Michael Graham as guest Organist and have altered our music accordingly to include accompanied works by Charles Villiers Stanford.

Sunday 8 October, Trinity XVII, 10.45am Sung Mass. Fr Nigel Mason. Music marking the 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther’s starting of the Reformation. Hymns: 440 : 275 : 444, all have German tunes. Setting: Missa super Dixit Maria – Hassler, a Protestant writing for a Catholic chapel. Motet: God liveth still – JSBach.

Tuesday 10 October at 6pm – CBS Mass. St Paulinus, Bishop of York, Missionary (644).

Sun 15 Oct, Trinity XVIII, Harvest, 10.45am Sung Mass. Fr Nigel Mason, Hospiscare Chaplain, as our Celebrant & Preacher. Hymns: 259 : 260 : 262. Setting: Mass in F – Harris. Motet: Thou visitest the Earth and blessest it – Greene.  N.B. Exeter’s Great West Run so some roads closed this morning.

Sun 22 Oct, Trinity XIX, 10.45am Sung Mass. With Ven David Gunn-Johnson. Hymns: 372 : 186 : 272. Setting: Mass in A minor – Casciolini. Motet: Bogoroditse Dyevo – Rachmaninov. Now replaced by “View me Lord, a work of thine” music by Richard Lloyd (b.1933), words by Thomas Campion (1567-1620)

Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Saviour of our souls.
